Much like “hoagie,” “wooder ice,” and “jawn,” Quizzo is a word entirely Philadelphian. Whether one Z or two, whether Wildwood or Ireland thinks they can lay a better claim to it, or whether you think your quiz(z)o host is better than me (he isn’t) is all irrelevant; Quizzo is as Philadelphian as Ben Franklin, the Liberty Bell, and Gritty. Since this is a website about me and not a term paper on Quizzo, I’ll give you this excellent article from Billy Penn about the history of Quizzo and move on.
Just like there are a dozen names for Quizzo, there are a dozen different ways to play it. In my completely unbiased experience, my format works the best: 4 rounds of 10(ish) questions, each round it’s own topic. Unless it’s a themed Quizzo, each round is it's own thing and not related to the rest. The standard format is Current Events in Round 1, an audio round in Round 2, a picture round in Round 3, and then we finish with another round on the microphone in Round 4, but sometimes rules are meant to be broken.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, hit me up. I currently book bars and breweries, colleges, office bonding events, and weddings, and whatever it is you’d like to have Quizzo for. Let’s make it happen.
