Connie Mack and his Philadelphia Ath-a-letics won the 1911 pennant and (eventually) the World Series, their second of three in four years.
After this run, the Athletics finished last or second-to-last eight years in a row, and their last glory years in Philadelphia would be 1929-1931, when they won three pennants and two titles. They would not make the playoffs again until they were in Oakland, two cities and 17 years away from Philadelphia.
